Modularity and sustainability: the must-haves of E.box

The perfect solution for modern workspaces requiring flexibility and customization

Our new E.box phonebooth, co-developed with architect Paolo Pampanoni, is an interesting example of how contemporary workspace design can combine sustainability, flexibility and material innovation.

A one-of-a-kind product responding to the ever-changing market requirements, focusing on modularity and a smart use of recyclable materials.

E.box is a collection of acoustic cubicles designed for acoustic comfort and privacy, perfect for meetings and individual work.

The self-standing structure is made of extruded aluminum and acoustic glass panels, along with a ceiling accommodating the ventilation system, LED lighting, electrical systems and sound-absorbing PET panels derived from recycled plastic bottles.

According to Pampanoni, the idea behind the E.box project pivots around the two key concepts repeatedly mentioned on these pages: ‘sustain’ and ‘ability’.

The first one recalls the idea of extending the life span of products, while the other depicts the ability to carry out each step of the process with expertise and accuracy.

Our company has deliberately avoided the use of composite materials that are difficult to separate, focusing on complete dismantlement at the end of a product’s life.

This approach tackles a common problem in the office furniture industry, where different materials are often inseparably intertwined, making the disposal process complex and costly.

The choice of materials is indeed focused on eco-sustainability: glass, recycled aluminum and PET panels make up the structure.

A further outstanding feature of E.box is its modularity, which allows the end user to modify the internal box configuration according to their needs, also varying the degree of acoustic insulation thanks to the possibility of adding or replacing sound-absorbing panels.

Each module can be redefined without any structural intervention on the surrounding areas, whilst preserving independence from the perimeter walls.

The core aspect of this product is its ability to be dismantled and reassembled countless times.

Not just an acoustic booth, but a flexible ‘microcosm’ that can be relocated within an office without additional work, making it ideal for spaces where the layout changes frequently.

E.box is equipped with uprights that allow the installation of shelves, worktops, blackboards and wooden end panels at any time.

This allows the booth to be tailored to the unique needs of each office, making it the ideal solution for modern workspaces where flexibility and customization are essential. The E.box project, representing the concepts of sustainability and versatility by bringing together materials, design logics and application methods to create smart, long-life products, demonstrates how careful and eco-friendly design can meet the needs of organizations seeking innovative solutions in the creation of functional spaces intended for concentration and privacy.
