Ritmica Wood Qadra

Material, Transparency and Rhythm for a Variable-Density Layout

This project explores the relationship between material density, transparency and spatial rhythm through the integration of Ritmica Wood and Quadra.

Designing executive interiors requires a calibrated balance between separation and continuity. For the headquarters of a leading automotive aftermarket company, Etoile combined Ritmica Wood—a partition system integrating wood, glass and contemporary textures—with Quadra, a modular storage system conceived as an architectural element rather than a purely functional component.

In the reception area, a slatted wooden suspended ceiling defines the main visual axis and establishes a material field in elevation. The vertical slats extend across the elevator cladding and selected boiserie surfaces, where repetition and spacing generate depth while maintaining visual lightness. The reception desk alternates fluted panels with smooth, light-toned surfaces, articulating a dialogue between solid and void, texture and continuity.

Ritmica Wood: Modular Wood, Glass and Texture

Ritmica Wood combines solid or fluted wood panels with glass elements, allowing controlled alternation between opaque and transparent surfaces. In this project, the system defines circulation corridors and selected meeting rooms through slim wooden perimeter frames paired with large glazed surfaces.

The wooden frames introduce a vertical rhythm that guides movement, while the glass partitions preserve visual and daylight continuity between spaces. The use of single tempered glass reflects a design choice that prioritizes transparency, with privacy levels suited to circulation areas and non-confidential meeting rooms.

Where a stronger material presence is required, the system integrates vertical slatted panels that modulate light reflection and help reduce reverberation in transitional zones. Its modular construction also allows for the integration of services and cabling without compromising the overall design.

Quadra: Integrated Storage

Quadra is a modular storage wall system that includes cabinets, shelving and equipped surfaces. In offices and meeting rooms, it provides efficient storage while keeping a clean, consistent look aligned with the surrounding partitions.

Flush doors with integrated handles maintain the continuity of the walls, while the internal modular layout allows flexible configurations for documents and technical equipment. The system is designed to work seamlessly with other Etoile partitions, sharing the same installation logic and finishes.

Using a dedicated storage wall reduces the need for freestanding furniture and helps organize the space more clearly: Ritmica Wood defines circulation and visual connections, while Quadra handles storage needs without breaking spatial continuity.

Variable Density: A Practical Design Approach for Office Spaces

Here, “variable density” is a concrete design strategy applied to office environments. It means defining how open or protected a space should be, in response to functions, circulation flows and different levels of privacy. Ritmica Wood and Quadra work as architectural filters, organizing movement, integrating concealed storage and balancing wood and glass without using them as decorative elements.

The office is not divided into rigid rooms but adjusted through degrees of openness. Spatial hierarchy is clear, wayfinding is immediate and the overall identity remains consistent. Light, rhythm and order support daily work without visual overload. What emerges is not decoration, but a workplace where architecture quietly supports function and orientation.
